This past weekend, I went for my normal walk on Sunday afternoon here in Hutchinson, MN and noticed a large number of cars with “new car” stickers being driven down the road. My first thought was, “Good for all the car dealers and the buyers of those vehicles.” I’m sure the onslaught of new vehicles is a direct effect of the new stimulus package. Then I got to thinking, “if any of those folks who ran out and bought new cars were planning to purchase a home in the near future, there could be negative repurcussions because of their purchase of the new car. So, if you plan to buy a home in the next year or so, be sure to talk to your mortgage broker before purchasing that new car (or any other large purchase) to find out if it will affect your buying abilility for a new home.
